Health-care support workers are underpaid and overworked.
The support workers in our hospitals, long term care homes, and labs are a crucial part of Alberta’s health-care system. We need each and every one of them, and more. But chaotic provincial decisions, bad faith bargaining, and underfunding are driving many health workers to leave the province or even to leave the profession altogether. This makes staff shortages worse and puts the care we need at risk.
Instead of making Albertans pay more for privatization and outsourcing, the provincial government must improve working conditions for frontline workers to help recruit and retain staff.
Join our fight to demand respect and fair pay for health-care support workers in Alberta. The future of public health care in our province depends on it.
