Danielle Smith and the UCP want to hijack your Canada Pension Plan.
Rather than have your retirement funds independently invested to maximize returns, Smith wants to pull your CPP funds and use them for her own self-serving agenda.
But that money is for your retirement security, not for political posturing. Politicians should be excluded from CPP investment decisions.
The premier says she intends to “protect the pension interests and benefits of all Albertans.”
The fact is, the best way to protect the pension interests and benefits of all Albertans is to remain in the most stable, portable and reliable pension fund there is – the CPP – and focus on expanding access to pensions for all workers.
If Premier Smith truly cares about Alberta workers and their retirement security, she will focus on expanding access to pensions for all Alberta workers, not meddling with our CPP.
The right solution to improving affordability for workers in the context of cost-of-living increases and securing retirement income is to focus on fixing the labour laws that restrict workers, not risking their current pension savings.
It’s your money and your retirement security.
Don’t let Danielle Smith gamble with it.
